Wonderful.AI

Wonderful.AI unified its fragmented sales data stack with Surfe, creating a single enrichment layer for Salesforce. The result is cleaner CRM data, fewer duplicate records, faster rep adoption, and a scalable foundation for AI-powered sales.

The challenge

Alexis Valentin made a promise to himself when he took over the BDR team at Pigment in 2020: his reps would not waste a single minute on copy-and-pasting.

“The promise I made to myself and to the team when I was hiring them is that you will spend the majority of your time doing valuable work. And I will take off your plate all the unnecessary painful processes — the admin, the copy-pasting, the rethinking a process ten times. That’s nonsense.”

It is a philosophy he has carried into every GTM leadership role since.

Now Head of GTM Ops at Wonderful.AI — one of the fastest-growing enterprise AI companies in Europe and the Middle East — he leads revenue operations across more than 30 regions. The challenge he faced when he arrived was a familiar one, but at a much larger scale.

Wonderful.AI’s sales team was working from a fragmented data stack. Multiple enrichment tools, each doing something well individually, were feeding into Salesforce in parallel. There was no unified engine governing how that data entered or was maintained inside the CRM.

The result was predictable: duplicate records, inconsistent field mapping, and data nobody fully trusted.

“My friends in the US were using two or three different extensions. My colleagues in Europe, the same. As a HQ RevOps function, you’d be managing five or six different vendors. In terms of IT and security reviews, that’s five or six separate processes to run.”

Alexis described it as a “Frankenstein problem”: a patchwork of solutions that each solve a different problem but make the underlying architecture fragile.

“If you don’t have a coherent approach that brings everything together, you’re either multiplying your rules and setup — or, most of the time, you end up with duplicates.”
— Alexis Valentin, Head of GTM Ops, Wonderful.AI

Why this mattered

Wonderful.AI operates at the enterprise end of the market, deploying AI agents for companies making billions in revenue across healthcare, telecommunications, financial services, and other industries.

Its sales motion is complex, multi-stakeholder, and long-cycle. Sales representatives engage CFOs, CIOs, and heads of operations at some of the world’s largest organisations.

In that environment, CRM data is not just a hygiene issue. It is a competitive one.

A representative calling a CFO with limited context or an outdated phone number looks unprepared. In enterprise sales, that impression can be difficult to recover from.

There is also a longer-term dimension to the problem: AI readiness.

As GTM teams increasingly rely on AI tools to assist with prospecting, sequencing, and pipeline management, the quality of the underlying CRM data determines the quality of every AI output that touches it.

Data unicity — the principle that every contact, company, and engagement exists once and only once, governed by a consistent set of rules — is not simply a technical preference for Alexis. It is the foundation of modern GTM operations.

“I’m here at Wonderful for the next five to ten years to build a scalable system. If you get those principles wrong, you are not building the machine that can support your growth.” — Alexis Valentin, Head of GTM Ops, Wonderful.AI

How Surfe solved it

The first tool Alexis deployed on top of Salesforce at Wonderful.AI was Surfe.

Surfe solved a structural problem that individual point solutions could not: it became the single layer through which public data, LinkedIn™ contacts, enriched emails, and company information enter and maintain themselves inside the CRM.

“Surfe wins because it’s the only tool that bridges the gap between public web data and my CRM structure. We share the same value of data unicity, which is super important.”

Surfe’s waterfall enrichment became the governing engine.

Rather than running Lusha, Cognism, and ZoomInfo in parallel, with each platform interacting with Salesforce in a different way, Alexis routes enrichment data through Surfe.

Other tools can still contribute data, but they do so through one coherent engine living inside the CRM.

“You can bring in Lusha, Cognism, ZoomInfo if you have a good reason. But you bring their data through Surfe, so you have one unified engine managing creation and deduplication rules across the whole system.”

The experience for Wonderful.AI’s sales representatives is equally straightforward.

Because Surfe operates alongside LinkedIn™ as a Chrome extension, representatives do not need to leave the platform where they are already working.

A single click adds a contact to Salesforce, enriches it with a verified email address and phone number, and captures it according to the data rules Alexis has configured.

There is no manual entry, tab-switching, or unnecessary duplication.

For senior enterprise sellers who have spent more than twenty years working at companies such as ServiceNow or Salesforce, the reaction to seeing Surfe for the first time is always similar.

“You are seen as a hero,” Alexis says, “and you haven’t done much!”

The “wow effect” is not trivial. Deploying a tool that creates immediate, tangible value without complicated onboarding creates real momentum across the team.

“When I first deployed Surfe, I saw the ‘wow effect’ in the eyes of my team — saying, this thing should be native on all CRMs!” — Alexis Valentin, Head of GTM Ops, Wonderful.AI

The outcome

With Surfe acting as the single entry point for contact data in Salesforce, Wonderful.AI’s fragmented stack problem was resolved at its root.

Duplicate records were significantly reduced. Field mapping became consistent, and record creation was governed by one set of rules rather than five separate vendor integrations.

Rep adoption has also been strong.

There is nothing to adopt in the traditional sense because Surfe exists where Wonderful.AI’s sales representatives already work. It does not require them to change their workflow, visit a new platform, or participate in extensive enablement sessions.

It simply makes what they were already doing — finding people online and adding them to the CRM — frictionless.

“It drives close to instant value. You set it up in a few hours and it’s an instant wow effect for the reps. And it’s one of the rare tools where people who’ve worked twenty years at Salesforce ask: how is this not a native CRM feature?”

The result is a CRM that can be trusted by both RevOps and sales teams.

“It’s usually one of the first two or three tools I recommend for every startup or company I advise — just for that effect: to show value quickly and to please the team on the ground.” — Alexis Valentin, Head of GTM Ops, Wonderful.AI

Customer advice

Alexis has been recommending Surfe since 2020. Dozens of companies have joined the platform following introductions he has made.

His message to sales and GTM leaders who have not yet adopted Surfe is simple:

“If you want to be a forward-looking leader who respects your team, you have to bring simplicity and value at the same time. It’s a matrix — and there are just a few tools that land in exactly the right position on that graph. Surfe is one of them.”

Looking at the broader future of AI and BDR teams, Alexis believes prospecting-focused sales roles are being disrupted.

“At Pigment we had 50 BDRs. I think now you can do the same work with 30. In three to four years, we won’t have BDRs at all — we’ll have inside sales people who can cover lower enterprise deals or mid-market.”

This is not a pessimistic view of B2B sales. It is a prediction based on where AI is creating value and what that means for how teams should be structured and equipped.

“Surfe is humbly one of those tools at the beginning of the process. But if you don’t have that foundation right, nothing above it works properly.”

“If you want to be a forward-looking leader who respects your team, you have to bring simplicity and value at the same time. Surfe lands exactly in that position." — Alexis Valentin, Head of GTM Ops, Wonderful.AI
